What is the difference between Save and Save As?

  1. If you click just "save", it will save it as untitled but if you push "save as", you can name it. Gracie

    1. Just to clarify...

      If you are pressing Save for the first time, it will prompt the user to name the file as well as select the location. Pressing Save from this point on will continue to save it with the same name in the same location

    Save As copies the file and lets you save it with a different name in a different place.

  5. Save is when you overwrite a previously saved file.

    Save as is when you want to save it as a different/new file.
    Ex.) You write a story for the first time, and you want to save it as 'new story'. So you hit save as and create the file 'new story'. That's save as. [Collin]

    Save- Naming a document for the first time or 'saving' continued work on a document.

  7. save is just saving updates you've made to an old file, you did spell checker, you changed a few paragraphs, or just added more info
    Save As is normally used when saving a new document, it lets you title your new document and choose where you want to store it. ti also allows you to save a copy of an existing file under a different name.
